Dr. Joshua Clarkman
DDS
Dr. Joshua Clarkman grew up in the Minnesota and Wisconsin area before earning both his undergraduate and dental degrees from the University of Minnesota. After starting his career in engineering, he found his true calling in dentistry—where science, precision, and personal connection come together.
Since moving to Bellingham, WA in 2018 with his wife Kristin and their Old English Sheepdog, Theo, Dr. Clarkman has fully embraced the Pacific Northwest lifestyle. Outside the office, you’ll find him mountain biking on Galbraith Mountain, skiing at Mount Baker, or enjoying time on the water.
Dr. Clarkman has a strong passion for implant dentistry and helping patients regain not just their smile, but full, functional teeth that allow them to live a confident and fulfilling life. Whether you’re here for a simple cleaning or a full-mouth restoration, his goal is to change the way people feel about going to the dentist.
He believes a dental visit should be a positive experience—and our office is designed to reflect that. With a calm, spa-like atmosphere and a friendly, supportive team, we aim to make every visit relaxing, comfortable, and even enjoyable.
Dr. Clarkman is a proud member of the American Dental Association and the Washington State Dental Association.
He’s passionate about mountain biking and exploring all things outdoors in the PNW. He and his sheepdog, Theo, are often spotted out on the trails.
He wants every patient to leave with a healthy smile—and maybe even looking forward to their next visit.

Niccolle
Niccolle has over 11 years of dental experience. She started her dental career as a dental assistant in Florida before moving to Bellingham. She has enjoyed learning all the different roles in the dental field. She is passionate about all our patients leaving our office, truly understanding their dental needs, and having a great customer service experience, which is easy with our amazing team! When not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their four sons.
Jessica
Jess has been a constant at Roots Dental for 5 years, making sure every patient feels comfortable, cared for, and supported on their journey toward their dental goals. With a background of 14 years in the medical field, she brings both experience and genuine compassion to her role as Office Director. Jess loves getting to know patients on a personal level and helping them feel at ease every step of the way.
Amia
Amia has over five years of experience in the dental field. She has grown from front office administration to dental assisting and now serves as a Treatment Plan Coordinator. This journey has given her a well-rounded understanding of both the clinical and administrative sides of patient care. She is especially passionate about building strong connections with patients—helping them feel comfortable, informed, and empowered to reach their oral health goals. She takes pride in creating positive experiences and offering the resources and support each patient needs to move forward with confidence. Outside of work, you can usually find her hosting gatherings for friends and family or exploring new places through travel experiences that keep her grounded, inspired, and connected.
Glendy
Glendy has 7 years of experience in the dental world, she has learned that a healthy smile starts with a happy heart! She is passionate about making each visit feel more like catching up with a friend than a dreaded trip to the dentist. Whether it’s calming nerves or sharing a laugh, she loves creating a warm, welcoming space for every patient. When not at the office, you’ll find her soaking up every moment with my amazing husband and our sweet daughter — they keep my heart full and my smile even brighter!
Shannon
Shannon began her dental career 25 years ago as a registered dental assistant working in oral surgery and endodontic specialty offices. In 2012, she became a dental hygienist and enjoys educating and encouraging patients through their dental journey. Shannon's favorite part of her job is providing patients with the experience of comfortable and exceptional dental care and the feeling of a great smile. She loves getting to know her patients and building long-term relationships. Shannon was born and raised locally and still resides in Bellingham. She enjoys her Doberman pinschers, riding horses, photography, and spending time with family and friends.
Brandy
Brandy is a dedicated dental hygienist with over 31 years of experience and a passion for creating positive, judgment-free dental visits. A two-time graduate of Bellingham Technical College, she has spent much of her career specializing in caring for patients with high dental anxiety. Building personal connections is at the heart of Brandy’s approach. She believes that trust, open communication, and evidence-based care are key to supporting each patient's unique health journey. Her calm, compassionate presence helps patients feel safe, heard, and genuinely cared for. Outside of the office, Brandy is a proud mom of three and finds joy near the ocean.
Izzie
Izzie has 3.5 years of experience in dentistry. When she’s not at the office, you can usually find her cooking or baking something new, strolling through the farmers market, or enjoying time with her family.
Ethan
Ethan has been a dental assistant for 7 years. His goal is simple: to make sure every patient leaves with a smile. Outside of work, he is passionate about discovering health, wellness, and balance in everyday life.
Miquette
Miquette has been a dental assistant for 10 years. She loves helping patients feel comfortable and cared for during their visits. Outside of work, she enjoys sailing, paddle boarding, hiking, gardening, and spending time with her family and golden doodle.
Shannon
Shannon brings three years of hands-on dental assisting experience to our team and is known for her attention to detail and compassionate patient care. She takes pride in creating a comfortable environment for every patient and supporting our doctors with precision and skill. Outside of the office, Shannon enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends, and loves trying new things—whether it’s an activity, adventure, or experience.
Amy
Amy grew up in Whatcom county graduating from Blaine high school, and she has been a dental assistant for 10 years. Amy enjoys being able to comfort her patients and show them a positive and general experience. She also loves meeting new people every day. Her and her husband live and birch bay and love spending time at the beach, enjoy spending time with her family and friends, reading, and spending time outdoors.
Laura
Laura has been in the dental industry for five years as front desk/admin. She is most passionate about making relationships with patients. When she’s not behind her desk, she can be found hiking trails around town or enjoying live music with friends.
Brooke
Brooke loves greeting patients with a warm smile and ensuring every visit runs smoothly from start to finish. With a strong background in customer service and office administration, Brooke takes pride in creating a welcoming, stress-free experience for everyone who walks through the door. Brooke is passionate about helping patients feel at ease. Being part of a team that helps people feel confident about their smiles is deeply rewarding for her, and she’s grateful to contribute to making each visit a positive one. Outside the office, Brooke enjoys building things and working on creative projects, she finds joy in bringing ideas to life and staying hands-on in her free time.
Jennifer
Jennifer grew up in Ferndale, Washington, and has been in the dental field for 10 years. She has a wealthy knowledge in insurance coordinating. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter. She enjoys reading, gardening, and spending time with her animals on her farm.
